Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

The data controller and developer of SyncPaste is Luigi Roscica. For any question about this policy you can write to assistenza@paracausalitysystems.com.

SyncPaste is a clipboard history manager for Mac, iPad and iPhone. This policy describes how the app handles information. The short answer is that it does not collect any: it stays on your devices and, if you choose, in your own iCloud.

2. What the app handles and where it lives

SyncPaste collects no personal data. There is no SyncPaste account, no sign-up, we do not ask for your name, email address or phone number, and we do not profile users. The app contains no analytics tools and no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

The content you copy is stored in a local database inside the app's container, on the device where you copied it.

If you turn on sync, that content is replicated exclusively into your Apple Account's private iCloud database (CloudKit, container iCloud.com.luigiroscica.clipboard), and from there it reaches your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. There is no server operated by us: the developer has no access to that data and never receives a copy of it. Whatever is stored in iCloud is governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy.

3. Encryption

Text, previews, titles and device names are end-to-end encrypted inside the CloudKit records, using the encrypted fields Apple provides (encryptedValues). The keys stay in your Apple Account's keychain: nobody outside your own devices can read that content.

4. What never syncs

Some content never leaves the device it was copied on, even with sync turned on:

• content recognised as sensitive: passwords, API keys, tokens and credit card numbers;
• anything copied from a password manager;
• content copied from the apps you have excluded in settings;
• content that exceeds the size limit.

Viewing content recognised as sensitive requires authentication with Face ID or Touch ID.

5. Locked clips and biometrics

You can lock a single clip by hand: it only reopens with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode or password. Authentication is carried out by the operating system: the app never sees, receives or stores biometric data — only whether the check succeeded or failed.

6. The keyboard on iPhone and iPad

The SyncPaste keyboard asks for “Full Access” for one reason only: to read your clipboard history in the data storage shared between the app and its extension. Without that permission, iOS prevents the extension from reaching that data and the keyboard has no history to show you.

The keyboard does not log what you type, does not retain what you write in other apps and makes no network requests: it sends nothing to us or to any third party.

7. Permissions on Mac

On macOS the app may ask for the Accessibility permission. It is optional and is used solely to paste on your behalf into the frontmost app, by simulating the paste shortcut. If you do not grant it, SyncPaste keeps working and simply copies the clip to the system clipboard, leaving the paste to you.

8. Network connections

SyncPaste reaches the network in two cases only:

• iCloud, for syncing, if you have turned it on;
• link previews: when you copy a web address, your device requests the title and image directly from the destination site. The request comes from your device and does not pass through us.

Text recognition in images (OCR) happens on the device using Apple's Vision framework: images are never sent to any service.

9. Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases are handled by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. The developer neither receives nor stores payment details: we never see your card number or billing information.

SyncPaste offers a 7-day free trial that requires no payment details; when it ends you can choose a monthly or yearly subscription, or a lifetime purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically and you can cancel them at any time in your Apple Account settings, as Apple's rules provide.

10. Children

SyncPaste is not intended to collect data from children and, more generally, collects no data from any user, whatever their age.

11. Your rights (GDPR)

Regulation (EU) 2016/679 grants data subjects the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Since we neither collect nor store any personal data, there is nothing on our side to show you, correct or delete.

You remain in full control of your own content:

• you can delete a single clip or clear the whole history from the app;
• you can export your clips from the app;
• you can turn sync off at any time;
• you can delete the data stored in iCloud from your Apple Account settings.

If you believe the processing of your data breaches the law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

Should this policy change, we will publish the updated version on this page and change the “last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will also be flagged inside the app.
